Eligible applicants are nonprofit agencies operating in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, California. Typically the Foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. However, the Foundation also awards grants to public agencies (county offices of education, city parks and recreation departments, etc.), schools (public and private), and some community associations or projects that have the fiscal sponsorship of another 501(c)(3) organization.
