Grant Spotlight: Small Rural Schools Achievement (SRSA) Program

SUMMARY: The purpose of the SRSA program is to provide rural local educational agencies (LEAs) with financial assistance to fund initiatives aimed at improving student academic achievement. These funds are considered entitlement funding.

Examples of eligible services and equipment include:

  • Student devices
  • Instructional software
  • Data analytic tools
  • Anything to improve the capacity of rural school districts

Individual allocations are calculated based on a formula and will not exceed $60,000 per district, which can be found here: https://data.ed.gov/dataset/reap-fy-2025-master-eligibility-spreadsheet/resources


DEADLINE: Applications are due June 13, 2025.


ELIGIBILITY: Eligible applicants include rural districts as long as they meet the following criteria: the total number of students in attendance at all schools is fewer than 600, or the county served by the district has a total population density of less than 10 persons per square mile and all of the schools served by the district have a Dept of Ed school code of 41, 42, or 43.
