SUMMARY: From the Department of Homeland Security, this program is designed to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters regarding fire and fire-related hazards.
Generally, there are two activities that this grant supports:
- Activities designed to reach high-risk target groups and mitigate incidences of death and injuries caused by fire and fire-related hazards
- Research and development activities focused on improving firefighter safety
A total of $32.4 million is available in funding for up to 100 awards.
DEADLINE: Applications are due July 3, 2025.
ELIGIBILITY: Eligible applicants for fire prevention and safety activities are any private, public, or nonprofit fire department operating in any state, territory, or tribal jurisdiction.
Eligible applicants for research and development activities are national, state, local, federally recognized Tribal Nation and nonprofit organizations (which include universities, research foundations, public safety institutions, public health, occupational health, and injury prevention institutions).
