Grant Spotlight: Social and Economic Development Strategies

SUMMARY: This program is focused on community-driven projects designed to grow local economies, strengthen Native American families, including the preservation of Native American cultures, and decrease the high rate of current challenges caused by the lack of community-based businesses, and social and economic infrastructure in Native American communities.

Examples of eligible services and equipment include:

  • Developing and implementing culturally appropriate strategies to meet the social service needs and well-being.
  • Promote the creation of a sustainable local economy to enhance the economic independence.
  • Increasing the ability of tribal and Alaska Native villages and territorial governments to exercise local control and decision-making, and to develop and enforce laws, regulations, codes, and policies that reflect and promote the interests of community members.

 

A total of $21 million is available in funding for 24 awards. Award amounts range from $100k - $900k. There is a cost match associated with this opportunity.


DEADLINE: Applications are due July 22, 2025.


ELIGIBILITY:
Eligible applicants include Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized), Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments), Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education, and Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education.
