Grant Spotlight: School-Based Mental Health Services Grant Program

SUMMARY: The School-Based Mental Health Services Grant Program provides competitive grants to State educational agencies (SEAs) or local education agencies (including a consortia of LEAs) to increase the number of qualified (i.e., licensed, certified, well-trained, or credentialed) school-based mental health services providers providing mental health services to students in LEAs with demonstrated need.

The program contains three absolute priorities and two competitive preference priorities. 

Absolute Priority 1: To increase the number of credentialed school psychologists employed in high-need LEAs.

Absolute Priority 2: LEAs proposing to increase the number of credentialed school psychologists employed in high-need LEAs.

Absolute Priority 3: SEAs or LEAs increasing the number of credentialed school psychologists delivering early intervention and intensive mental health services in high-need LEAs.

Competitive Preference Priority 1: SEAs propose specialization for existing professionals to become credentialed school psychologists.

Competitive Preference Priority 2: Rural Applicants

 

A total of $180,000,000 is available in funding for approximately 20-25 awards. There is no cost share or match component.


DEADLINE: Applications are to be submitted by October 29, 2025.


ELIGIBILITY: Eligible applicants include State Education Agencies (SEAs) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs), including consortia of LEAs.
